Movies Shot in San Miguel

LOST
and FOUND in MEXICO
Why would anyone who is living "the American
dream" drop it all and move to Mexico? This is exactly what
happened to psychotherapist Caren Cross after she and her husband
went on a one-week vacation to San Miguel de Allende.
Confused by her impulsive decision
and overwhelmed by the changes she felt, Cross decided to make a
documentary film in which she explores the lives of Americans who
chose to leave their hard-working, successful and fast-paced lives
to
live in a small Mexican town where leisurely conversations take
place in the main square, burros walk the streets and people find
their hearts engaged in living once again.
LOST and FOUND in MEXICO is currently making the rounds
of over 20
film festivals and has won numerous awards, including "Best
Documentary" in the Boston Film Festival. DVD

And
Starring Pancho Villa as Himself (2003) (TV)
Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa (Antonio Banderas) finds himself
without adequate funding to finance his war against the military-run
governemnt. He also finds himself at odds with the Americans because
of the Hurst media empire's press campaign against him. To counter
both of these, he sends emissaries to movie producers to convince
them to pay to film his progress and the actual battles. Producer
D.W. Griffith (Colm Feore) becomes interested and sends Frank Thayer
(Eion Bailey) with a film crew to develop film reels. Thayer becomes
horrified and fascinated by the bandit. He finds an enigmatic individual
that is both ghoulishly brutal and charmingly captivating. The resulting
film became the first feature length movie, introducing scores of
Americans to the true horrors of war that they had never personally
seen. Thayer sold the studios on making the film despite their concerns
that no one would sit through a movie longer than 1 hour by convincing
them that they could raise the price of movies to ten cents, doubling
the going price at that time.
Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003)
The
film is based on the story of a drug lord Barrillo, who pretends
to overthrow the Mexican president. Within the drama, another of
the principal persons is a corrupt CIA agent Sands who at that time,
demands retribution from his worst enemy in order to carry out the
drug lord's uprising against the government. Mariachi is recruited
by Sands to take out Gen. Marquez (has a huge score to settle with
the Mariachi), who has major beef with Mariachi to begin with. He
sends Cucuy (the muscle for Sands) to shadow and keep tabs on the
Mariachi. Marquez is working with Barrillo, and is about to assassinate
El Presidente and assume power. Sands also convinces Jorge Ramirez
(retired-FBI, has old scores to settle with Barrillo) to come out
of retirement and take out Barrillo and Dr. Guevera (personal Dr.
to Barrillo, killed Jorge's partner a long time ago), who brutally
tortured and killed Ramirez' FBI partner. |
